Training Camp Tips and Hints Occasionally the bleachers will fill up so it's not a bad idea to bring along a lawn chair or blanket. Players begin to file onto the field 30 to 45 minutes before the start of practice but will not sign autographs until the sessions ends. Autographs are now conducted on a position-by-position basis in the "Autograph Zone." The Alltel Freedom Rig will also offer interactive features with an opportunity to win prizes. There is a lot to do while you are waiting for the next practice to start each day. Mankato has a large shopping mall and two large theaters. At the Blakeslee Stadium complex, the Vikings Village features interactive games, Viking Locker Room stor, Miller Lite end zone bar and Hy-Vee Food Court. In the evenings you are liable to see some players at the restaurants and clubs downtown or across the street from the practice fields. Directions from Minneapolis to Mankato. Minnesota State-Mankato is 90 miles south of the Twin Cities. Take Highway 169 south to the Riverfront Drive exit. Make a left at the light. Take Riverfront Drive to Stoltzman and make a right. Take Stoltzman for two miles to Stadium Road. Make a left on Stadium Road and it will lead to the practice fields. Remember to always say thank you when players take the time for an autograph and or picture.
