Vikings Have Another WR Visit Scheduled
After entertaining one of the top free-agent wide receivers in Kevin Curtis at the outset of free agency and eventually losing him to the Philadelphia Eagles and their six-year, $32 million deal on March 15, the Vikings are suddenly back in the free-agent market for a wide receiver.
After visiting with former Indianapolis Colts free-agent wide receiver Aaron Moorehead Monday and Tuesday, the Vikings are also slated to visit with free-agent wide receiver Cortez Hankton Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a league source.
Hankton has played all four of his NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but his most productive year was also his rookie year of 2003, when he had 17 catches for 166 yards while playing in 16 games.
Since then, Hankton hasn't played in all 16 games in the ensuing three seasons. In 2004, he played in 12 games and caught nine passes, including the only two touchdowns of his career. In 2005, he played in six games and caught three passes, and in 2006 he played in 12 games and caught five passes.
For his career, the 6-foot, 200-pounder has 34 receptions for 310 yards and two touchdowns.
Moorehead, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver, has 23 career receptions in four NFL seasons for 265 yards.
Hankton has dealt with hamstring injuries during the 2005 and 2006 seasons, but Jacksonville is believed to have an interest in retaining him and the Miami Dolphins have also expressed an interest in him.
